The Drum Lamp project was an exercise to turn an everyday object into a source of light. After looking around at used objects, I decided to take a snare drum I found at a second hand store, and make it light up.
Carefully drilling a hold through the stand, and threading the wire through from the bottom, I was able to electrically connect a light bulb to the top of the stand. By taking off the top of the drum, replacing the drum skin on top with a see through material, and cutting a hole in the bottom, the drum sits perfectly on top of the light bulb. The bulb is only bright enough so it doesn't make the drum too hot, and gives off enough light to make a room dimly bright. The drum still can be useful to anyone who wants to make some noise!
